We visited Sand Creek Massacre National Historical Park in 2019 on a hot summer day. The park ranger came out of the visitor center and talked to us about what took place there. He explained that we should be respectful and not speak loudly because we were visiting a graveyard. His simple guidance was powerful and heightened my experience and understanding of the horrific events that occurred.
